Introducing the Iron Harbor Project (IHP)
My name is JC (for now). I started IHP as a way to give back to first responders and veterans. For the last approximately 8 years I have served full time in law enforcement. I recognized a need for resources focused on improving the mental health of First Responders and Military Personnel. The mission of IHP is to provide mental health resilience help through peer support and a faith-based approach to healing.
My own struggles led to me realize how hard it is to seek help and not feel outcasted for it. I was putting on a facade at work. I was smiling and laughing and still hard charging into every aspect of work; Field Training Officer, SRT/SWAT, and patrol. In reality, I was spiraling downward faster than I could ever realize. I hit my breaking point one night. I was hours from home and crashing out.
Through the help of a friend, I came to the realization that I had to do something. I was living a lifestyle that was destructive, full of sin, and dragging me to an early grave. I found my way back through Christ, therapy, and a strong support system. I found a new passion for the job and for life. My hope is that IHP can help you before you reach the point that I did.
As a Christian, I felt called to serve in law enforcement. As a Christian LEO, I feel just as called to serve the same heroes that I see serving beside me each and every day. I hope that in your moment of need, you’ll remember IHP and reach out. I can promise this; We’re here, we’re not judging, and we want to see you through your struggles. Remember that We Go Home.
Until next time, go in Christ.
